Hi Aron,

as we've already discussed in direct email contact, I'd like to answer this question for completeness sake here as well.

Usually, you don't need to adjust the z-order of graph elements manually. In this case, there was a table node that was overlaid by other nodes which were connected with each other. However, because the nodes within the table were not actual children of the table but just overlapping it visually, the edges were drawn behind the table and thus not visible.

A table acts similar to a group node (i.e. a contain for other nodes) and therefore nodes need to be 'reparented' as children of this container. This can be done by holding SHIFT while dragging the child nodes into/outside of the container.

This will create a hierarchy between the parent and its child elements that will be respected by many different gestures in Graphity (e.g. resizing, layout, etc.). It is particularly important for tables, because the layout algorithm will be able to assign the nodes to their table cell and arrange them within the cell without loosing this association.

That said, this could really use more user guidance, since it is a rather hidden feature. Therefore, thank you for pointing this out again. We plan to add more context sensitive user guidance during certain gestures to make these features more visible in the future or even change the gesture in this particular case.

Best regards,
Fabian
