Is it possible to update the confluence's default documentation theme so that, when I click on a link in the left navigation panel, the content will be loaded from a page in some other space?

Sadly, it's currently not possible to set a page from another space as root of the pagetree (see PGTR-94). But you could workaround this issue by creating a page containing the pagetree macro and include it in the documentation theme navigation area:

  1. create a page in the other space containing the pagetree macro
  2. go to Browse => Space Admin => Themes => Configure Themes in current space
  3. uncheck the Page Tree checkbox
  4. insert the following wiki markup into the Navigation text area:
{include:yourspacekey|YourPageWithPagetree}

Learn more about the parameters of the pagetree macro here. Find the full documentation about configuring the documentation theme here.

Hope this helps
