Hi everyone 👋
My name is Ben, I'm an engineer working on Jira navigation.
We've been developing some exciting updates to help you organise projects which are important to you in Jira and I’m thrilled to introduce Drag & Drop Projects in the sidebar.
With this feature, you’ll be able to reorder your starred projects in place, allowing you to organize your projects according to your preferences and improve your workflow efficiency. This feature is available to all users with the New Navigation and will be rolled out over the next few weeks.
Why we built this
We listened to your feedback; empowering you to arrange your sidebar to reflect the projects most relevant to you helps reduce clutter and improve efficiency. Quickly access your most important projects without scrolling through a long list.
How to customize your projects
Drag and Drop: Simply hover over a starred project in your sidebar, drag it to your desired position, and drop it to set the new order
Dropdown Menu: Alternatively, use the More actions menu to select Move in sidebar and choose where you'd like to move it in the order
FAQ
What happens if I add a new starred project?
New starred projects will appear at the top of the starred section, maintaining your custom order
Is my custom project order visible elsewhere?
Your project ordering is shown only in the Jira sidebar. The Projects Directory and For You retain their existing order
Who can see the custom order?
Every user has their own unique customized order and this is saved when a project is moved by drag and drop or the Move in sidebar menu
We’d love to hear your feedback! Let us know what you think and how you’re planning to use this feature in the comments below. Your insights will help us continue to improve Jira for everyone.
