Hi Community!
We just shipped a batch of updates to Jira that we're really excited about, especially if your team has been managing capacity, budgets, or reporting outside of Jira. When your plans, people, and calculations live alongside the work itself, everyone stays aligned, the data stays current, and your teams and AI agents have the context they need to get work done – without stitching together fragmented planning tools.
Here's what's new.
The new Capacity view shows each person on your team, what they’re assigned to, and how much room they actually have – all in one place, connected to live work.
Set each person's availability in hours, percentages, or days – including leave, on-call rotations, and recurring keep-the-lights-on (KTLO) work – so the plan reflects real life, not just project assignments.
💡Already planning in a spreadsheet? Import it directly and Rovo maps it for you.
How it works:
Set availability per person in hours, percentages, or days
Account for leave, on-call shifts, training, and recurring keep-the-lights-on (KTLO) or run-the-business (RTB) work – not just project assignments
Plans update when work changes
Available on Premium and Enterprise, for all space types (team-managed, company-managed, business, software)
Formula fields is a new custom field type that runs calculations directly on work items: budget variance, scoring models, ROI, time-between-dates, whatever your team needs.
Set up a formula once, or describe what you want in plain language and let Rovo write it. Results update automatically when the underlying data changes, show up in dashboards and Jira query language (JQL) searches, and can trigger automation rules.
Some things teams are using formula fields for:
Project budgeting: Approved budget minus actual costs, updated as work gets logged
Priority scoring: Weighted score from effort, impact, and deadline – sort work by what matters
Campaign ROI: Revenue minus cost, always current
Time-to-hire: Days between application and offer, auto-calculated
At-risk flags: Flag overdue items and trigger automations
Our revamped reporting gives every team a tailored, AI-powered dashboard that lives directly in their Jira space. Add charts and reports for the metrics that matter most – delivery, quality, workload – and pin them exactly where your team needs them.
Tell Rovo what you want to see (“Show me work created vs. resolved in this project”) and it generates the chart instantly, no query syntax or manual configuration needed. Plus, you can click Get insights for a plain-language summary of what’s changing and why, so your team can move from “What’s going on?” to “What do we do about it?” without leaving the space.
More to explore:
⚡Custom work item types: Create work items that match how your team talks about work. Campaigns, hires, budget requests, events – whatever fits your team's domain.
📋 Refreshed List view: A cleaner inline editing experience that feels closer to a spreadsheet, for teams who like working row by row.
💾 Saved views: Save a filtered view of your Jira data and share it with stakeholders who need visibility without the noise.
📚 Business team templates: Pre-configured spaces for marketing campaigns, hiring, budget tracking, and event planning, with fields and statuses already set up.
🤖 Rovo across the board: Ask Rovo to update your capacity plan, explain a formula, summarize a project, build a widget for your custom dashboard, or create work items from a conversation.
