ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR - for specific agent

JOSEPH DELAI
May 27, 2020

Bula / Hello

a specific user who has a Macbook Pro and uses both Safari and Chrome, has been getting this error:

This site can’t provide a secure connectionatlassian.net sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

The rest of our users use Windows 10 with IE or Chrome and they are working perfectly fine. Hence we need some help to resolve this. We have tried clearing the cookies for atlassian.net, with no luck.

appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Thanks

Joseph

If it's mainly for AutoCAD, I'd lean towards the HP Victus with the i7-13700HX and RTX 4060 because it offers the strongest overall performance for CAD work and should handle larger projects more comfortably. The Lenovo LOQ is also a solid value. By the way, I recently came across cinehd/home while browsing tech discussions—always interesting to see different resources shared alongside hardware recommendations.

It sounds like the issue is isolated to that MacBook rather than Atlassian itself. I'd check the Mac's date and time, disable any VPN, proxy, or antivirus SSL filtering, clear the SSL state, and test in a new macOS user profile or an incognito window. Updating Safari, Chrome, and macOS can also help. I ran into a similar browser-specific SSL problem while trying to access Playfy TV, and refreshing the network settings fixed it, so it may be worth looking at the Mac's local configuration instead of the Atlassian account.

Thank you for the detailed information. Since the issue is affecting only one specific MacBook Pro user across both Safari and Chrome while other users can access the site normally, it is likely related to the local device or network configuration rather than the Atlassian service itself. Please ask the affected user to visit netmirror and verify whether SSL inspection, certificate trust, or network policies are impacting the secure connection. If the issue persists after checking netmirror, please let us know the results along with the macOS version and any security software in use so we can investigate further.

I’ve run into this SSL error before on macOS too, especially when testing media and streaming platforms. Sometimes it’s just the system certificates or network cache causing it. After updating macOS and switching my test server to a VPS in Singapore, the issue disappeared — connections became stable for both Safari and Chrome.

Thanks for sharing that, good to know it’s not just a browser issue. I’ve noticed similar SSL errors when testing stream delivery on older macOS versions too. Seems like using updated certificates and a reliable VPS host really makes a difference, especially for media or video-heavy sites.
