In Part 3 (and final) of this series, we take the Forge app we’ve been building and complete the loop: turning backend Realtime events into clear, in‑product notification popups in Jira.
So far, we’ve:
Reacted to work item link events with Forge product event triggers
Enforced custom link governance rules automatically in the background
Published realtime events when those rules kicked in
Now we’ll bring that all the way to the Jira issue view, so users get immediate, contextual feedback about what just happened and what to do next.
🔔 What we’re building in Episode 4
Silent automation can be confusing for teams (“Where did my link go?”). In this final, hands‑on session, we’ll connect the Jira issue view background script and the Realtime events API, and then use the Forge bridge showFlag to surface notifications right where users are working.
You’ll see how to:
Trigger notification popups with showFlag whenever your governance rules modify issue links
Add helpful actions to those flags, like:
Refreshing the current issue view
Jumping directly to your internal documentation or link policies
We’ll walk through the full flow from publisher to subscriber, and leave you with a reusable pattern for turning any backend Forge logic into meaningful, in‑product notifications your users can actually see and act on.
