Hi
I have linux server that have two disk
1-for os
2-for confluence data
Now I have question about which is logical for confluence data:
1- have single partition with huge size? E.g 5TB disk
2- or use multiple disk with small size (e.g use virtual disk to see disks as single with tools like Mhddfs)? E.g 5x1TB disk
any idea?
thanks
Hi @me ,
any system administrator will tell you that a good practice is to have separate partitions : this way, if there's an issue on a data partition (for example, logs filling up a directory) then it won't impact other OS components.
Also, it's easier when you want to increase some partition size (addind a new disk for example) if it's separated : this way you will only need to move some Confluence data to a new disk and the service won't be impacted.
It would advise :

Hi, thank you for answer,
actually the main problem is data partition, os and log maintain on separate disk.
So do you have any idea about data partition?

Hi @me
Alexis has correctly advised about how to setup the partitions, so that if one partition is full, it should not affect others. You should keep a separate partition for OS binary, Home Directory and Install Directory (although they can be on same partition). The home directory will contain large amount of data so it should be generously sized.
