Rovo app for Microsoft Teams is now live! 🎉

Here is a moment every team knows. Someone asks in a Teams channel, "what's actually blocking the release?" The answer exists, but not in the chat. It's in a Jira work item, a Confluence decision, a SharePoint doc, and a thread from three weeks ago. So, somebody goes hunting, tabs open, and the conversation moves on without the answer.

Now you can just ask.

Today we launched the Rovo app for Microsoft Teams. Mention @rovo in a channel, a group chat, or chat with it one to one, and it answers using the full context of your work: Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Google Drive, and the other tools you've connected to Rovo. Then it acts on that context, creating and updating Jira work items and publishing Confluence pages, without you leaving the conversation.

Rovo for Microsoft Teams is available now to everyone with Rovo enabled on their Atlassian site.

What you can do with Rovo in Teams

• Search across all your tools at once. Ask in plain language and Rovo pulls from Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Google Drive, and your other connected tools, using your own permissions.

• Get answers that connect the dots. Rovo is grounded in the Teamwork Graph, Atlassian's living map of how your work items, docs, decisions, and owners connect, so you get the state of play rather than a list of links.

• Catch up on a conversation. Ask Rovo to summarize a long channel thread or group chat before you reply to it.

• Turn the conversation into work. Create and update Jira work items, and draft and publish Confluence pages, straight from the discussion. Rovo confirms the details before it does anything.

How to get started

Rovo is in the Microsoft Teams app store, and you can add it yourself in seconds.

Requirements

Before you get started, make sure you have:

• Access to at least one Atlassian site where Rovo is enabled, for example your-site.atlassian.net

• A Microsoft Teams account in a tenant where your organization allows the Rovo app to be installed

That's it. You can set Rovo up yourself.

To use Rovo in a channel or group chat

1. Mention @rovo and ask your question. If the app hasn't been added yet, follow the prompt to add it.

2. Rovo shows you a private setup card that nobody else in the conversation can see. Select Confirm to connect the suggested site and use private replies, or Change settings to pick a different site, or to choose how Rovo replies to the whole channel. More on that below.

3. Rovo saves those settings for that conversation and answers your original question. Every channel and group chat can point at a different Atlassian site.

To chat with Rovo one to one

1. In Microsoft Teams, go to Apps in the left sidebar.

2. Search for Rovo and select Add.

3. Rovo sends a welcome card and connects to an Atlassian site you can access. If you have more than one site, select Switch site and pick the right one.

To change anything later, mention @rovo configure in the channel or group chat. In a one-to-one chat, type configure to switch sites or help to see what Rovo can do.

Two ways Rovo can reply in a channel

Reply mode	What happens	When to use it
Requesting user (default)	Rovo replies privately to whoever asked, using that person's permissions. They can keep working with Rovo privately, then select Post to chat to share. Third-party search and actions are supported.	Most teams. No admin setup, and nothing is shared until you choose to share it.
Shared account	Rovo replies publicly using a shared account an admin has configured, so everyone sees the same answer. Jira and Confluence search and actions only.	Channels where the whole team should see the answer, for example a support or triage channel.

Rovo respects your existing access controls in both modes. It won't surface content you can't already see, and it won't take an action you aren't allowed to take.

Example prompts to get started

• Get the state of play before a standup: @rovo what's blocking the Q4 release?

• Catch up on a thread you were tagged into: @rovo summarize this conversation and list the open questions

• Pull an answer out of SharePoint: @rovo what does the onboarding doc say about laptop setup?

• Turn a decision into work: @rovo create a task for the portal redesign we just agreed on

• Write it up without leaving chat: @rovo draft a decision summary from this thread and publish it to our team space in Confluence
