We know that Rovo Agents are already experts on your internal company knowledge—from Confluence pages to Jira tickets. But sometimes, the answer isn't inside your company's knowledge. Sometimes you need to know the latest market trends, check a competitor's recent blog post, or find the documentation for a third-party API.
Today, we’re excited to announce Web Search in Agents, giving your custom agents the ability to securely browse the live web to provide more comprehensive, up-to-date answers.
Web Search allows Rovo Agents to fetch live information from the internet to supplement their internal knowledge. This isn't just a "search engine" inside a chat; it’s a tool that your Agent uses to verify facts, find external references, and bring outside context into your Atlassian workflow.
Scenario-Level Control: You decide exactly which agents and scenarios need web access. You can enable it for your "Market Research" agent but keep it disabled for your "Internal Policy" agent.
Admin-First Safety: Web Search respects your organization’s Adminhub settings. If your admin has disabled Web Search for the org, Agents will stay strictly internal.
Consistent Everywhere: Whether you’re talking to your agent in Chat, triggering it via Automation, or using it inside the Confluence Editor, the web search behavior remains consistent with your Agent's scenario configuration.
Just like our recent Deep Research update, Web Search is configured at the scenario level. This means you can build highly specialized agents that know exactly when to look "outside."
To enable it, head to your Agent Configuration page, select a Scenario, and toggle on Web Search under Knowledge. (Note: your Org Admin has to have enabled Web Search in Atlassian Adminhub first!)
What will you build with a web-connected agent? Let us know in the comments!
