Allowing HTML in custom field description

Question

Hi everyone,

One of our customers is having trouble with the markup in third-party custom field description.

Even after allowing HTML rendering from system configuration, HTML code snippets on third-party add-ons are only rendered in the ViewCustomFields page but not in create / edit issue screens.

I tried disallowing HTML in custom field descriptions, which should activate the Wiki Markup, but this is not rendered too.

Therefore, it appears clear that no type of text rendering is allowed with third-party custom fields.

There are a lot of discussions on HTML rendering in the Atlassian Community, but none of them seem to provide a solution to this particular issue. Has anyone faced it before? Do you have any workarounds, or tips for it's resolution?

No scriptrunner does not support this.

This as HTML is considered a risk based on XSS (cross scripting risk). Atlassian warns to not do this,If you want to do this, it's at your own risk.

This is why app vendors also removed this or not support this anymore.

do u know if it is doable using Script Runner and Custom Scripted Field?
I created Custom Free Text MultiLine field as advanced type "Scripted".
now in Script Runner -> Fields -> I am able to provide groovy

but not sure if it is a good hint

This should be raised at Atlassian.

There is no option for HTML rendering on custom field by 3rd parties in the Jira setup.

You could raise your issue on the Atlassian Developers forum, https://community.developer.atlassian.com/
