Community release note and maintenance notice for March 5-6, 2025

Hello community!

We’re gearing up for some exciting changes, and you’re about to see the first piece of the puzzle, as our domain changes from community.atlassian.com to community.atlassian.com/forums

Why are we making this change?

As you may know, the Atlassian Community is a bigger umbrella than it has ever been, now encompassing Atlassian Community Events, Learning content, and the online community experience. Our goal is to make the experience more streamlined and intuitive, especially for new users.

Is this the forums upgrade we’ve been hearing about?

No - the functionality and features of the forums will remain the same under the hood. This is purely a domain change update.

Will our URLs all break?

No - the URLs should automatically redirect.

When will the change happen? Will there be any downtime?

This is scheduled to happen starting at 4:30 PM Central Time on March 5 (10:30 AM on March 6, UTC) and last a few hours. During this time, you will find the site temporarily inaccessible, but we should be back up and running soon.

It can't possibly go that smoothly.

We hope it will, but we are prepared for any contingency! If you see any errors, broken links, or other weirdness, you can always post in the comments here or email communitymanagers@atlassian.com.

This isn’t that exciting.

Oh, just you wait! 😉

Any questions? Let us know in the comments below.

@Monique vdB 🤞for a successful update. I guess I'll catch up on some light reading I have been putting off while the community is offline...

I think it must have been completed by the time I signed on this morning (about 8:15AM Eastern). I haven't had any issues so far.

@Monique vdB I guess I didn't read the banner message closely enough. I thought it just said March 5 (before I closed it, so I don't see it anymore). I may need more caffeine today. ☕😴

The banner came back. It does say March 5:

If this is happening tomorrow, please update it to say March 6, @Monique vdB

@Barbara Szczesniak it's starting in about 45 minutes - today, March 5 at 4:30 PM Central.  It will be March 6 already in some parts of the world.

My bad. I saw AM, not PM. I guess I'm still tired at the end of my day. Sorry. 🙃

Welcome back!

Yes, and...who else is seeing event notifications missing from the bell / See all notifications feed at the top right of the page?

For example, I am only coincidentally finding questions resolved or responded to when re-reading them  (from links in my own profile feed) but not finding alerts in the notifications feed.

Thanks, and kind regards,
Bill
