Work is gone

I just lost an entire day of work. I had been typing in the description field my notes to copy and paste to my work because this is the only place to type things out and I guess I didn't click save when I went to cook dinner. My computer re-started in the meantime and now 9 hours of work is gone. Is there any way to find this history? Why the heck does this thing not save as you go??????

There are some things we can suggest for you to recover card descriptions. First, we have this method that, depending on the situation, will allow you to recover your descriptions: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/recovering-the-description-or-card-title-that-was-changed/.

It may also be worth checking if there is a third-party Power-Up that offers this functionality: https://trello.com/power-ups/search?q=undo.
