Unable to use special characters

When we want to use some special characters for comments or description our JIRA Instance throws error

Database collation is latin1_swedish_ci

how was the database set up?

did you followed these instructions?



i guess not.

Database collation is latin1_swedish_ci

what should be utf8

can you please run

mysql> show CREATE DATABASE <yourJiraDB>;

also these queries show some info:

mysql> show variables like "character_set_database";
mysql> show variables like "collation_database";
