I have a custom field called " unique complaint number" being poulated from my another software. I want to give edit access to only one particular group who can take care of JIRA on super level. Currently when I leave it on Edit issue screen all people who have edit access can edit this field. I do not wish them to be able to edit that field.
Can you suggest a way out?

Jira does not do "field level security", so in theory you can't do this.
The two standard workarounds are
1. Use the Quisapps field security plugin
2. Remove the field from the "edit" screen, put it on it's own screen and use that screen in transitions that you can protect with conditions to prevent the wrong people changing it
