My company has decided to move to JIRA as part of our transformation to an Agile/Scrum shop. Where should I start in configuring JIRA for our purposes? I'm thinking the below order of steps seems appropriate, but I want to be sure. Thanks.
This is something you will have to do over a few iterations of test migrations.
1. Determine the mapping for fields between your existing system and JIRA. This way, you will also deal with creating the custom fields
2. Workflows and screens
3. Roles and permission. You might want to revisit your workflows here if you want to place restrictions based on roles.
4. Test import
5. Required addons.
Again, the order in which you have listed things and I have and what someone else will list might vary. It is an iterative process according to me through which you will determine what works best for your instance.
Hi Frank, I would recommend you a different order:
That's my opinion and the way I've been doing, but in the end you will be moving constantly between the numbers 2,3 and 4.
Hope this helps!
