When an issue is assigned to 1 assignee. Later, we realised that we need more help hence we need to add few more assignees to help in the project issue. When we went to "assign" at the dashboard, the Assign screen popped up. And when we wanted to add another name, when we clicked one of those names in the suggestion box, the current assignee name will disappeared and the new name will take over as assignee. We do not want that, we wanted a group of individual names to be indicated but not to be assigned as a team.

Please advise.

Jira does not allow multiple assignees and the request to support it was closed with a firm "not going to implement this" message.

You'll need to use a multi-user-picker custom field to do this, but it won't have the functionality of the built in assignee field, and you'll need to think about how to handle the actual assignee alongside your extra field.

Use a user picker custom field instead of using the standard assignee field.
