How is correct way to sstimate Subtasks?

Deleted user June 21, 2017

I have an Story(parent) with 3 subtask(child). I log work in hours.

Shoud I estimate the Story with the total time of the threee subtask in the Story's field Original Estimate(parent)?

is it better to set zero in the Story's field Original Estimate (parent) and estimate the time in each subtask?

Thanks

Depends on what you're doing and what you want from it.

If you're doing Scrum, then you will want the estimates on the stories, as that's where JIRA Software will work with them.

If you're not doing Scrum, and just using plain JIRA or JSD, then estimating the sub-tasks will work for you.  The issues can display all the time or just the story time with a toggle.  It's then up to you if you want to estimate the stories as well as the sub-tasks.

Thanks Nic,

I'll do it as you explain and I'll check the differences Jira reports to evaluate which fit better.
