Extrenal database

justin gilmore October 24, 2012

I am installing Confluence and it will be for a small IT team and during the installation it recommends that I go with a Custom install. Once I go through the custom install it asks me to install either an embedded database or an external database. I just wanted to clarify these before i went further. Also I would like to state, we made a vm to host confluence off of and we also partitioned it. So the primary partition will be used for confluence but the secondary partition will be used to store the documents. I just wanted to be clear when it came to installing the database.

External is the way to go for a production install, the embedded db is just for eval.

Depending on size of your instance, and avialable physical ram, be careful putting a database and an application within the same VM...
