Calculating timespent

I need to report on assignees timsepent over a period of time. i.e. if userx has worked on a project in the last 30 days I need to total that time.

Is this possible in Jira 4.1? Is it possible in Jira 5.0?

What is happening is I am doing an advanced search and it is reporting the total time to the current assignee. i.e. if userx does 30m on a task then assigns it to usery the 30m gets reported as usery.
