due date in wbs gantt chart for jira

Hi all,

under wbs Gantt charts for Jira plugins, we have a due date as an option in place of the start date and finish date. I would like to know how does this due date works or what exactly it means since we already have a start and end date as an option.

is it not the same thing doing what start and end date will do if selected?

Hi @chandra bhushan,

It is not the same.

Gantt bar created with Start and End date is your plan, which you may want to schedule earlier than its due date.

Some people want to plan an issue (task) ending at due date for example, though. They can use a due date in place of End date as you are already aware of:

Does this make sense to you?

Cheers,

@Shunsuke Osawa to some extent I understand behavior will be the same as end date rather due date will be kind of keeping an eye on task end date.

functionality wise it would be one or same correct me if i am wrong

@Shunsuke Osawa

I have a question in below image I have attached :

2018-07-09_17h05_42.pngwe have End data and finish date(WBS Gantt) which is one or the same what I believe.

same way for start date and start date(WBSGantt), So wanted to know is both the option serve a different functionality here? or selecting either option end date or it may be finish date(WBS Gantt) is one or the same.

Hi @chandra bhushan,

WBS Gantt-Chart adds custom fields such as Start date (WBSGantt) and Finish date (WBSGantt) but not Start date and End date.

Those custom fields might have been created by someone in your organization. Could you talk to your Jira admin if they know anything?

@Shunsuke Osawa I am using the plain version from Atlassian, I haven't made any customization under my installation package. still, that option is there(start date and start date(wbsGantt) from plugins.

so I assume that if they have given this as 2 different option definitely it would be serving a different purpose.

please confirm if I am correct?

@chandra bhushan

I doubt WBS Gantt-Chart created such duplicated fields.

You may want to go to Audit Log in Jira and select "Custom field changes" to see the detailed logs of "custom field created, custom field updated, custom field removed, scheme added to project, scheme removed from project."
