Why would a Kepler Database Child Information not show on a Dashboard Gadget?

James P. Hilving April 8, 2015

I have found that when setting up a Database Information Field with Database Child Information fields the Information Field show up in Dashboard Gadgets, such as pie charts, heat maps, and two dimensional tables. On the other hand the Child fields just do not. I have tried a few things to make it work without any luck.

  • I changed the Search Template.
  • I used a "Text Field" instead of a Child Field to be populated as a child.
(This seems to work in the Issue but not for the Gadget)
  • I did re-index on each change.
  • I have seen this issue in 6.3.1 and recently tried in 6.4 as well.

Any ideas? My next bet would be to make each field a stand alone Database Information Field which would work but not be as elegant and would increase the number of SQL statements.

Hi James,

We have tried it and the DB child is available in 2 dimensional gadgets. Have you tried the exact text searcher for it? Are you using the latest DBCF version? Maybe there was a bug a while ago and we fixed it in the latest versions. If it still doesn't work, I don't think we can do much,  if there is a bug, it's on the gadget's side. We will try to reproduce it, maybe there is something specific that is blocking the CF in the gadgets configuration.

Regards,

Silviu

Thanks Silviu! I did try the exact text searcher...and the none too. I re-indexed each time the the problem hangs around. I'll see if it duplicates in a new dev environment and open a bug if easy to reproduce.
