Why do some stories list multiple sprints?

I feel like this is a newbie question, and it is, but I've been using JIRA Agile for quite some time and have never been harmed by the fact that JIRA lists multiple sprints for stories, but am curious why? Is this indicating that the story has been deferred from one sprint to another?

If you clone an issue, the information about the original sprint is copied to the new issue. 

Moving an issue from one sprint to the other does not do this. E.g. move issue from sprint 1 to sprint 2, will only show sprint 2 in the issue.
