I recently needed to restore the JIRA database from backup. This process inadvertently removed a user which had recently been added after the backup was done. When I go into User Management to re-add that user, I now get an error stating "A user with that username already exists." We are using delegated LDAP authentication for the Directory option when creating new users. Is there something else which needs to be removed to allow the user to be added again?

Of you are using LDAP you would want to add them in AD and not in Jira. Then when the directory syncs then it will pick up that user.

That did not resolve the issue. Actually restarting JIRA service resolved the issue.
