We have accidentally deleted an issue that had lots of comments/time logged to it and would like to get it back by doing a database restore (we are linked to a sql database).
What are the steps required for the restore? Do we just need to stop the JIRA service, do the restore and restart or will we also need to do some re-indexing.
Please advice. Kind regards,
Sandra
Thanks for that, yes we had realised that we will lose what we have done since the backup was taken.
Is the re-index something that is likely to take ages to run ? Is this run from Admin/System menu/Advanced/Re-Indexing?
Correct. The time indexing takes is proportional to the number of issues you've got and how complex the data attached to them is (lots of custom fields?)
There's no way to guess at how long it will take without testing or an ideal of numbers...
This is one reason we don't allow deleting of issues. An easy option is a special transition that can only be executed by the project lead that sets the resolution to DELETED with a comment explaining why and a status of closed. Deleting issues will eventually come back to bite you. It may take a while, but it will be most inconvienent. One option you do have is to stand up a trial instance, restore from the backup, and dump the info and replicate the issue.
