Report on number of stories created over time within a project

David Mattatia May 5, 2017

Currently working within an organization transitioning to Agile. I would like to show stakeholders how organic a backlog is by reporting on number of stories within a project over time. Any idea on how to do this? Thanks

You could do this as a custom Excel report implemented with the Better Excel Plugin that displays the number of stories created over time, possibly grouped by some dimension (sprint).

jira-created-vs-resolved-pivot-chart

Sample for a Created vs. Resolved report: http://www.midori-global.com/products/jira-better-excel-plugin/template-gallery#created-vs-resolved-reports

Sample for pivot reports from JIRA Agile data: http://www.midori-global.com/products/jira-better-excel-plugin/template-gallery#jira-software-reports

You should be able to build yours from using these as starting points.

Thanks Marc. I tried those filters/gadgets already but what I actually am trying to show is the evolution of the total number of stories in time. So, for example. At end of Sprint N (or week N) we had X stories. At the end of Sprint N+1 (or week N+1) we have Y stories (probably Y>X). Etc...

Create a filter (Project=<your project> AND issuetype=Story).

Add on a Dashboard the gadget "Created vs Resolved Chart" or "Recently Created Chart"

...play with the gadgets parameters to get what you want...
