I'm trying to find a setting that can alert me when JIRA can't connect to the incoming IMAP server. We use email heavily with our JIRA instance, and recently our Mail system had some changes. Once we found out the issue, we fixed the system and a week's worth of emails coming into JIRA got processed. Ideally the system would have notified us if it couldn't connect and we could have fixed it earlier. Is there a way to have the system notify us when it can't connect to incoming email?
Maybe you can try with some external tool that monitors the atlassian-jira.log file for errors related to mail server (some regex) like nagios or something simular.
