Hi All, New to Jira, so not sure if it is very basic question, but I didn't find answer to this one. I am looking to import bulk issues to Jira project and every time I try, the assigness of the issues are not imported, instead the imported issues in backlog Assignee field show "Unassigned". Any suggestions?
Here are some points that I tried:
1. Created the csv file with 149 issues of which there were 8 different Assignees ..
2. Checked several times also with a collegue to ensure if the field mapping is right or not, but unable to find any faults there
3. Issues are in fact being created in the backlog of Kanban, but the assignee field is always "Unassigned".
4. As per one of the suggestions in the community, I also checked post functions in 'create' transition, I don't see any
Jira does not prevent issues from having an Assignee at any point in their lifecycle by default. You can have issues assigned when they are in a backlog.
Are you getting any message in the CSV import log file about setting the Assignee field?
What value are you providing in the Assignee field in your CSV file? Do the values match to the User Name(s) (logins) of users for your Jira instance? Have those users been granted the Assignable User permission in the Permission Scheme for that project? Can you manually assign issues in that project to those users through the UI?
Hi Trudy,
Thanks for the suggestions and sorry for delayed response. Yes, I tried to cross check these inputs from your end.
The user name inputs are valid,
These are assignable users and that fact that out of 8 assignees, none is getting assigned to those created issues means that problem somewhere else.
I am able to assign these users these tickets manually in UI .. Yes..
I will try to revist them again plu anything more if I can imagine from my limited experience and online research..
Will come back again..

If you manually created an issue in that same project through the UI, can you set the Assignee in the Create Issue dialog?
