How to change the standard workflow?

Martin Schubert -BSH- January 28, 2020

The normal Jira workflow is:

backlog > accepted for development > in progress > done.

For our project we need a customized one:

backlog > accepted for development > in progress > check > done

Thanks for helping with that.

Best regards,

Hi @Martin Schubert -BSH-

Welcome to the Atlassian Community..!!!

To do the changes first thing is that you need to be the Jira Administrator.

So i would say you not to edit the standard workflow, Rather you can copy the Standard Workflow and make the required changes by following on the links which i have attached here.

In order to copy a workflow you need to go to the Settings->Issues->Workflows.

There you can copy the workflow and make the changes.

Once a new workflow is created, you need to ensure to associate that with the workflow scheme and then associate that workflow scheme to the project.

You can have different workflows for different issue types also. Ensure that the new workflow created is associated to the workflow scheme and to the project that you need to make changes.

As a best practise i asked you to copy and do these above activities. If not you can just go ahead and make the changes in the same path i mentioned earlier, provided that you are the Jira Administrator.

I'd also point out that the workflow you've given us is not the "normal jira workflow", it's one that has been created by one of your admins already (probably starting from a copy)
