How to change custom field descriptions?

Question

I am trying to change the descriptions for several new "custom fields" I've recently created in Jira.

I am able to edit and change the field descriptions names within Custom Fields and the changes I make there are saving and updating when I go into that area.

However, the old descriptions still show both when I attempt to create a new Jira issue or if I try to update an existing Jira issue?

Has anyone encountered this before and have a suggestion on how I might solve?

Thanks Leo,

yes you're correct. Updating the description at the overall definition of the custom field doesn't update the Field Configurations where is it used. I had to go through those and update each one.

Hi @David Siderski,

it is also worth to check field's description in Field Configuration scheme, if it holds the old one still, you can change there to reflect in project

Project Settings --> Field Configuration
