Hi! Everytime i create an issue. It creates with the resolution " not solved".

alexandra.lcortijo October 23, 2019

Hello,

When i create an issue. The state resolution starts in "not solve" even if the issue is just open. How can it be?

How can i change this default field to appear in solved?

I have a transition screen that let me change this when i close or cancel the issue. But the default in the screen in the OPEN status is always "not solved"

This usually happens when someone places the resolution field on the create (and/or edit) screen.

You should remove the resolution field from all create and edit screens.

I would also strongly recommend not have "not solved" as a resolution, it is probably inaccurate and definitely confusing.  If it means "needs work" then you should be using the system "unresolved", which means no resolution is set at all.  If it means "we have not solved it, and we are not going to", then use something less confusing like "will not fix"

Hi, probably is my english. Sorry. It appears " No resuelto" that probably is the status you said "unresolved" I´m affraid that, even if i delete it from edit/creat issue screen. It is in unresolved, even if i dont see it or edit it.

So, if it possible to change this combo ( resolution options)? and predefine the solved for it?

Thanks!

Ah, ok, that makes sense, it is working as intended.

The point of the resolution field is to tell you whether an issue is "unresolved" or "resolved" (which could be any string you want, ideally one that describes why you think it is done with)

So Jira always displays this field.  When the field in the database is empty, it displays "unresolved" (to English speakers) to tell us that.

So, if i want it to change, it is compulsory that i change to resolved" manualy with the resolution field in the transition to finish or close. If not, it will remain "unresolved" . Am i right?

There is no posibility of AUTOREGISTER the change to solved when passing to finish status?

Yes, that's absolutely right.  You should set a resolution when you finish or close an issue.  (You should also, ideally, clear the resolution if you re-open an issue).

You can do this automatically though.  Edit the workflow and do two things

  • Remove the resolution field from the transition screen
  • Add a post-function to the transition that sets the resolution
