Connect tab in excel to confluence

I have read the techniques previously posted re linking to an excel doc from Confluence.  But I don't think I see the solution to what I need to do... So it may not be possible.

We have a roster as an excel doc which gets updated weekly. It's in the cloud and there are only certain people who can make edits. As a brand new employee, I have been tasked with getting the roster into Confluence by cutting and pasting from Excel. The Excel doc contains several tabs... That contain several sections. So each section has to be copied into its corresponding section in Confluence.  However, this method means I have to go in EVERY WEEK and compare the Excel lists to the corresponding Confluence lists.

I am trying to find away to dynamically update Confluence each time Excel is updated. A simple link from Confluence to the Office cloud would be perfect... Especially if I can make direct links between corresponding sections. Even if it means adding some sort of book mark to the sections in excel... I can probably convince the keepers of the excel sheet to add the bookmarks or let me do just that.

BUT... Is this just some crazy thing I am making up? Is there any sort of method for creating a dynamic link?

Both docs share the same login (SSO) so I don't think that would be an issue.

Any ideas?

THANK YOU! Sorry if this is a totally insane question... I just don't want to spend my days updating the lists in Confluence.

Hi @Kelley Bennett ,

Our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app also allows you to work with external files. You may check its Table from CSV macro that allows you to recreate tables in Confluence from CSV/TSV attachments, urls and Google Spreadsheets.

And you may also use our Table Spreadsheet macro that supports the fully functional Excel pattern (cell formulas, conditional formatting, etc.) right in Confluence. You may import the existing file into our spreadsheet and continue your work.

@Kelley Bennett

Our app, Polaris spreadsheet allows you to embed an existing excel and CSV files in a confluence page and directly edit it.
It offers full editing capabilities for excel files and provides an advanced view mode that allows you to use filters, scroll, and find. Please check the details.

The Office Excel macro has the options to show:

  1. A specific worksheet (first sheet if not specified)
  2. Last row (all rows if not specified)
  3. Last column (all columns if not specified)

If you can convince your people to keep the spreadsheet in a suitable structure, then you can use multiple Office Excel macro to display different parts of the same spreadsheet.

(I'm new here, so you can wait for others to reply too)

Thanks, @KC Wong , I think this is CLOSE to what we might want...although I was hoping we could pin point the target just a bit more specifically... But this may be an option if we don't find a better way.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond! 😊
