Change to the Select List

Changes to the select list can be:

  1. Entry renamed
  2. Entry removed.

What will happen to an existing record with that field in each case. How shall we handle these?

Nothing will happen for a rename - option names are display things not data.   No data will change on the issue, it will simply display the new name.

For a delete, the value will be stripped from all the issues having it.

If you remove an entry the data goes away. Since v5, I believe, JIRA has had an option to retire a value so it can't be used for new issues, but won't delete the data from old ones.
