Can you copy automation rules from one project to another in Jira SD cloud?

Laura Colon September 28, 2020

Is there a way to change a project rule to a global rule,  this way other projects could use it?

Hello Laura,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

It's possible to change the scope of the automation from a single project to global.

As a Jira administrator, go to Cog icon > System > Automation rules.

Select All rules and click on the desired automation. On Rule details, you will be able to select the scope to "All projects".

hi Angelica,

For me it does not allow that option, it only allows me to create it for the specific project that I'm in.

Is there any other way?

Hi Laura,

This change must be done on the Global administration and it can be done by a Jira administrator.

If you don't have permission to access Cog icon > System > Automation rules, you will need to ask for the admin to do this for you or ask them to give you permission (add you to the jira-administrators group).
