We have email listeners setup so that anyone in our organisation can send an email to jira and it creates a ticket on the appropriate project/board.
However I would have expected that these people would then get an email response when a developer comments on the ticket. This doesn't appear to be the default behaviour; can it be configured?
If the issue being created also sets the Reporter field to the person sending the email to create the issue, they should receive notifications as per your Notification Scheme.
Can you please confirm
1. The reporter field is set to a JIRA User (person sending the email should exist in JIRA)
2. Permission schemes are configured to send email updates to Reporter on issue comment and update
