we are currently using Jira + BigPicture for project planing.
Our project team is hard to convince to move to BigPicture because they can't edit columns directly.
Is there an add on or option to do this? Similar functionality is in ProjectLibre.
Even few field would be enough, like task name, start and end date.
Right now inline editing is under development and will be introduced gradually throughout BigPicture modules starting with Scope. See the ticket on our side:
Unfortunately we are unable to give an estimate when it will be implanted. Please review the ticket every now and then and watch the Fix version field for something that starts with "prod/" which will mean it has been released.
Tomasz of SoftwarePlant Support
Please be informed that inline editing of numeric and string types of fields is available. However, at the moment, we experience an error that our Dev Team is fixing. Soon you will be able to update your tasks by inline editing again.
Moreover, the following fields will be supported in the upcoming releases:
If you have further questions, please let me know in this thread.
I looked back at the ticket in https://softwareplant.com/jira/browse/INITIATIVE-30. Is it true that this feature dates back to 2015, and five years later it is still undone? I am comparing with WBS Gantt-Charts, and that's a feature they have that works great, but sadly for their cloud version, the information isn't stored in the issues fields, so it isn't as clear as with BigGantt/BigPicture.
The issue, or what is being requested, is not adding columns to a view. What is being requested is the ability to edit the field values directly from the BigPicture table UI. This is currently enabled for the Issue Summary field, but not others (I have not checked them all).
This is functionality offered by other apps but IMO those apps are not as good as BP in many other areas.
