I am trying to create a link to a MS word document on my Jira Help Desk next-gen (that works fine!). However, when the user clicks on the link they want the file to be open in MS Word desktop mode ( they want / need to utilize the track changes feature only offered in desktop mode)
anyone has done this before?

Opening a file in a particular piece of software is a function of the operating system, not the server. Your people will need to associate Word with the right file types to edit downloaded copies of attachments.
