Calculate actual automation usage in Jira Server

Mike Donnarumma May 20, 2022

Hi,

we have Jira Software (100 users), Confluence (100 users), Jira Service Desk (25 agents) in a Server configuration.

I need, to understand better what Cloud Plan is the best for us, to calculate how many automations are triggered on our instance at the moment

There is any way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to the community.

Check out the "Performance Insights"  as I believe it will tell you everything you need to know about the automation you are running server-side noting:

Your automation performance insights provide an overall view of how your rules are performing, allowing you to view execution counts, and how long your rules are taking.

Cloud side the usage limits are calculated as covered in this documentation:
If an automation rule is created and run for a specific project, the executions will be unlimited. This is true for Cloud Free, Standard, and Premium. So Global rules will be the ones to focus on.
You can also get a rough estimate by looking at the audit log of each global rule you have set up, and any rule that is global but could be converted to a project level rule should be applied to reduce the executions on the global limits to give yourself more headroom if your running over the global limits currently.

If a rule is created and applied to more than one project, it's considered global, so it will be limited. The limits for that are (for a month) 100 executions for the Free plan, 500 executions for Standard, and 1000 executions per licensed Premium user. Covered in more detail here:

Hope this helps get you on the right track to prepare you for the migration.

Regards,
Earl
