Why is "Delete Issues" permission mandatory (recommended) on a Service Desk Project?

We'd like to prevent SD agents from accidentally (or on purpose) deleting issues and allow this only to another special role.
I believe that this relates to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSD-1969
It would be appreciated if you could add any further details to this issue, and consider voting / watching it to be informed when updates occur, and to know when it is being worked on.
