Associate custom field value with users.

I am putting together a chain of approval.
I do not know how to do it, I have a custom field that allows you to select different values. I need that when a value is selected, it has a user associated with it.
Which would be the approver.
I do not know how to make that link between the custom field value, with the users, who should then make the approval.

It's possible?

If you don't want to use an add-on, you can set conditions on your workflow so that when the value of your custom field is A, the assignee will be updated to the approver.
