How to delete a project, but keep the information?

Sid Yadav October 10, 2017

We are using the JIRA Core and one of our projects we were working on is now ended. We want to delete the project from the JIRA Core so it doesn't pop up, but want to keep all the issues and Tasks we created for future references.

Is there a way to do this? Maybe deactivate a project?

1. you can cut permissions to make it read only (archiving)

2. you can move issue to specific project or even to different Jira

Hi Sid,

There is an article titled Archiving a project that provides some suggestions for online and offline methods to Archive completed or obsolete projects:

  1. Online archiving
  2. Offline archiving

Finally, there is a suggestion to just archive issues:

Archiving issues

Archiving issues is also possible. The basic method would be to filter for issues that you want to archive then bulk move them into a separate project which can then be archived by using one of the methods above.

Cheers,

Branden
