How can I create a custom change ID?

Damon Smithies December 2, 2016

Hi,

Our development team is currently in the process of setting up the JIRA Core application to migrate our manual kanban board on to the JIRA board.

We have been playing around today to test the waters and noticed that the change IDs are pre-determined. We would rather have these not be automatically generated for us and to allow us to create a change with a specific change reference.

Do you know if this is possible or what a good work around would be if not?

Thanks

Damon

If you are on the Cloud and you're referring to the issue key (XYZ-###) then no can do.

If you are server based, you might be able to code something for this, but I would highly recommend you don't.

You could add a custom field and assign your own data to it for tracking an internal change reference, but the JIRA assigned key will still be the "Unique ID".
