Can I add custom fields to the each Project type like adding fields to the different Issue types?

I want to add additional fields while creating a project so that I can filter different projects like Funding by, Sponsored by, etc? I can see fields can be added to the Issues type like Bug, Epic, Story, etc.

Not natively, but there's a "project fields" add-on in the marketplace that does a decent job of it.
