What jira version should be intermediate in order to update to the latest release

I have Jira 8.9.0, in what order should I update Jira to the latest version 8.20.2.
If I want to download the latest version of Jira: I get a message ->

Required - current version is incompatible with Jira Core 8.20.2

@Robert Wen It might be helpful for me if you show me recommended upgrade path for 8.9.0 version.
