How can I create a table in a comment using the new issue view?

In the old view I was able to create a table using pipes. I tried the same format using the new view and I only got raw text. How can I do this?

Hello David,

Unfortunately, the New issue view of JIRA is still a lab feature where our developers are still working to implement some features, including the Tables provided by the Wiki Style Renderer:

- Wiki Markup does not work in the New Jira Issue View

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

For now, we recommend you to use the old view of JIRA if you would like to add tables to your fields.

To turn off the new issue view for Classic projects, Click on your profile picture > personal settings > turn off the new issue view

If this feature is still in the lab, why is it turned on by default? I would rather not be opted in by default as a beta tester.

Is there an issue I can vote on requesting markdown support instead of the wiki markup?
