Adding html HR tag to Message Custom Field (for view) default value

Hi
I have inherited a Jira Cloud instance where the Message Custom Field (for view) is used. Some of them has <hr /> tag in the default value.
For the existing fields this works neatly. See attached image where i have the working field and then my re-creation of this field in a sandbox environment.
When I create new Message Custom Field (for view) and add default value via "Edit Default Value" in Configure Custom Field and add the same tag i get <p><hr /></p> shown and when i go back to check the configuration it has been changed.

one know how i can redo what i have inherited?
