When I issue

git ls-remote --tags --heads https://bschnitz@bitbucket.org/bschnitz/timer.git

git sometimes asks for a password, despite the repository is public. Sometimes it works (for some time). I could not yet reproduce the behaviour on a github repo, so it might be a problem with bitbucket. Can anyone confirm this?

Try it without specifying a username in the url?
