We have two supported methods to upgrade Confluence: manually or using an installer.
The manual method basically involves downloading the newest version of Confluence, then running it against your existing Confluence Home directory. The installer method uses an installer to automate most of this process. The pages below outline the full steps for completing each method:
In either case, it's best to closely follow the steps outlined in the documentation linked above, which provides detailed instructions and things to look out for to ensure a successful upgrade. And most importantly, be sure to test all changes in a staging environment before upgrading production to avoid any potential outages.
