how to provide page access to users without space permissions

Hi All,

we have a requirement to provide a specific page access to users that dont have permissions to the entire space. the permission should be view and edit to the page to users that have confluence user but dont have permission to the page's space.

the purpose is to provide access to users that are not par of the space group but in some cases need access to a specific page or specific attachment on the page.

does anyone had to handle such request or is familiar with an add-on that can provide such functionality?

we are using confluence server.

thanks in Advanced,

Erez

Hi @Erez Marcovich

I have this scenario, and I have ended up giving space access, but what I do is create two top-level pages:

One page that is open to all people in the Space

One page that is restricted to a certain usergroups (this would be the current people with Space access)

  • Under this page, we create all the pages that just the team needs to see, which inherits the view restriction and stops all others seeing these pages

Hope that helps

You must give them access to the space which contains the page.  That's the whole point of the permissions - to allow people to see what they should and stop them seeing what they should not.

View restrictions are cascaded, so the usual way to expose pages to different audiences is to allow everyone into the space and then build a page heirarchy like:

  • Pages for everyone
    • public 1
    • public 2
  • Pages for group A (restrict view to group A)
    • group a page 1
    • group a page 2
  • Pages for group B (restrict view to group B)
    • group b page 1
    • group b page 2

and so-on
