What is "Control port"

I did some researches but I didn't find what the "Control port" is using for. (TCP port)

  • The main listening port is where the web application is published (example: http://example.com:1990/confluence, where 1990 is the port). Webapps are usually deployed on 80, because you can then remove it from the URL.
  • The control port is used by Tomcat (the web server). Tomcat's utilities can use it to start/stop/monitor the instance.

Thank you very much !
