What hardware resources does Confluence need?

Jan Orlandini October 12, 2015

Dear admins,

our IT is asking, what is the Confluence server hardware need - and more importantly: What would it be after some years of use?

For now, our pilot confluence project is running on an simple workstation (i7 CPU, it's consuming about 1.5 GB of memory and about 2 GB harddisk). But what about the memory / access speed / harddisk in let's say 5 years from now?

We plan to expand the pilot from our section to a larger segment of our company, that is 150 instead of 10 user...

What are your experiences?

  • how fast does the harddisk consumption grows?
  • does the memory need scale with user or with article number or hard disk consumption?
  • what kind of CPU should be used for proper response times in daily routine?

Thanks in advance for sharing!

Hi Jan,

This is very relative, since it's impossible to determine how much will your instance increase in the next 5 years, for example.

However, you can refer to the specification examples we have on this page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Server+Hardware+Requirements+Guide

Thanks!

Regards,
LM
